Hello. My name is Andris and I am currently a student at VIA University College, campus Horsens. I study Architectural Technology and Construction management on international line, which means that I work and cooperate with people from various cultural and educational backgrounds. We design, plan, scrutinize, analyse, renovate and manage buildings of various purposes, starting from single family houses and ending with multi-storey commercial blocks.

About me

I am an outgoing person, whose motto is "Trust. Support. Performance". I believe that every person is capable of doing a fantastic job once he is put to the right place. I never let down those seeking for help and assistance, concerning either professional questions or personal life. And finally, I myself show a great productivity in both teamwork and individual tasks.

Current interests

After being on exchange program in New Zealand for 5 months, where I studied Architecture and Architectural Technology, as well as Construction Management,  I started realizing what are the key points that I personally would like to emphasize.

First of all, it is focus on the client. It goes without saying that the building industry has often  maltreated the clients, and companies are mostly caring about profit in their back pockets. However, when the client is put as the highest priority, and best suitable people are set to create a project, it will greatly benefit both parties in terms of money, experience and reputation.

Sustainability

I believe I got lucky when my interest in sustainability and innovation crossed the current trend of green, resource-efficient buildings. Just a decade ago the major emphasis was on constructability and speed, whereas today clients are more open-minded towards sustainable solutions. Personally, I think in the next 5-10 years there will be a huge increase in the number of projects where greenery is dominant. That is why I often follow the latest innovative products and materials, such as  micro-algae façade system that generates heat and biomass as renewable energy sources.

Compteneces

During the Architectural Technology and Construction Management bachelor program, I have developed and greatly improved such core competences as project and time management and 3D-visualisation skills (Autodesk Revit, SketchUP). I have a vast knowledge of pricing, quality assurance, building processes and logistics. During exchange program in New Zealand in 2016, I worked a big deal on improving my hand sketching, teambuilding skills and improvement of working environment. In addition, I became profound in various procurement methods and tendering procedures that are used in different parts of the world

Languages

I always feel a communication need and I have a great command of foreign languages. From the very early age I grew up in a bilingual environment of two languages: Latvian and Russian. I learned both to an excellent extent. Later on, at school I learned English, and although it is my third language, this fact had no effect whatsoever on my progress. Result was "measured" by IELTS, one of the most respected English tests in the world.  Getting a Band Scores of 8 our of 9 acts as the best proof of my hard work. In addition, at highschool  I learned German for three years. On top of that, in Norway I took one-year intensive course in Nynorsk, and now I hold a B2 certificate in Norwegian. Currently I'm learning Danish and I'm on danskuddannelse 3 Modul 5, which means that I feel myself comfortable in everyday's danish conversations.
